Four living creatures

A new work carved in oak for St Luke’s Episcopalian Church in Blue Ridge, Georgia, USA, carved in oak. The winged living figures, symbols of the Evangelists, are inspired by a 11th century ivory from Germany or Northern Italy. Originally it  would have decorated the cover of an Evangiliary, a manuscript containing all four Gospels. This icon, however, will be installed 30 feet up on the ceiling of St Luke’s at the intersection of two structural beams.
